In this digital age, what’s better than a little HAPPY MAIL! My friends at Lion Brand just made my whole day by sending me a goodie box of yarns to play with. I had no idea what was in the box and couldn’t wait one more second to open it.

Lion Brand Fall Yarn Unboxing and Giveaway from TL Yarn Crafts - Enter to win a mystery box of Lion Brand's featured yarns! Entry open to US residents only and ends Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

Partnering with Lion Brand over the past year has been a dream come true. I use their yarns religiously and am always excited when they release something new. LB keeps us makers on our toes, sharing new projects and yarns regularly via their website and Instagram.

They dropped a line to me earlier this month, asking if I was interested in trying some of their featured yarns. The obvious answer was yes, and I asked them to surprise me. Because who doesn’t love a surprise??!!

Click the video below to watch the official unboxing, and make your way back to this post to enter the yarn giveaway.

Save 20% off everything (except clearance) from LionBrand.com with code TLYarn20! Offer valid through Thursday, November 15th.

Color Made Easy

Alas, our beloved Woolspun is being pulled from our yarn store shelves. Let’s have a moment of silence for this truly splendid yarn. *bows head and sniffles* But our friends at LB won’t leave us hanging. There’s a new bulky weight yarn in town, and we all need to take notice.

Color Made Easy is a level 5 Bulky weight 100% acrylic yarn offered in 22 on trend colors. It’s multi-plied and a perfect alternative for those with wool allergies. It’s got incredible squish and comes in a giant 247 yard ball.

Since it’s relatively new, there are only a limited number of kits available in Color Made Easy. Crocheters will have fun with the Winterberry Cowl, designed by ChiWei of One Dog Woof. And knitters can get in the Christmas spirit by making My First Holiday Knit Sweater from Sewrella.

If you need a bit more variety on bulky weight projects, you can try making the Final Flurries Scarf & Beanie set. Better yet, get super cozy and make the Veronica Cardi!

Touch of Merino

Talk about luxury! The entire Touch Of Luxe collection (including Touch of Alpaca and Touch of Mohair) from Lion Brand is insane. I’m glad to see LB challenging and elevating traditional maker’s expectations when it comes to commercial yarns.

Touch of Merino is a level 3 DK or Light weight 90% acrylic/ 10% merino yarn that feels like silk to my fingers. The merino adds some bounce and spring while the acrylic lends integrity and familiarity. This yarn is currently offered in 8 lovely shades.

Designer Alexandra of Two of Wands has the kit game locked down. She currently offers three selections on LionBrand.com: the Parisian-inspired Anouk Set, the optical illusion that is the Sliced Diamonds Wrap, and the beginner friendly Eastwick Wrap.

If you want to take your TLYC projects to the next level, swap in Touch of Merino instead of the suggested yarn. I personally would use if for the Rebel Cami, Adore Shawl, and even the Serenity Shawl.

Wool Ease Thick & Quick

You can’t talk about tried and true staple yarns without bringing up Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I’ve been using it for craft markets and gifts for years. It’s the perfect balance of wool/non-wool fibers and works well for accessories, garments, and home decor.

Wool Ease Thick & Quick is a level 6 Super Bulky 80% acrylic/ 20% wool yarn that’s ideal for just about any kind of project. Surprisingly, it’s machine washable and holds up very well. My favorite shade used to be Hudson Bay, but what I pulled from my mystery box has me second guessing.

WE T&Q has been around forever, and there are plenty of kits available on LionBrand.com at all different difficulty levels. Some of my favorite projects are Knitatude’s My Beginner Raglan, the Waistcoat Basket from All About Ami, and the crocheted version of the Chain Link Armored Cowl from Woods and Wool.

Like the name says, projects made with WE T&Q work up super fast and give crocheters some instant gratification. Try it out on my Sand Castle Tassel Scarf, the Queen Cowl, or the brand new Bailey Ear Warmer.

Giveaway Details:

As much as I’d love to keep it all, my craft room can’t handle too much more yarn. So I’ve repacked a lot of the yarn that came in my mystery box, and I’m giving it away to one lucky TLYCBlog visitor!

What You Get: A box of mystery yarn, care of Lion Brand and TLYCBlog.

How to Enter: 1. Like this YouTube video; 2. Comment below with your name, what state you’re in, and what you’d do with the yarns I shared.

Fine Print: Giveaway open to U.S. residents only. Entries close Wednesday, November 14th at 12noon ET. Entries made on the original YouTube video WILL NOT count.

Good luck, everyone!

Ooh… I love your channel, Toni. Your mystery box is so much fun! If I win, I will be making gifts for friends and loved ones [probably one or two for myself, as well]. It’s what I do as I Pray and Crochet.
Crocheting is a very helpful method of keeping my brain and hands nimble while I struggle with MS, today, brought on by chemobrain that occurred as a result of chemotherapy after having a total hysterectomy after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year (big as a cantaloupe on my left ovary.) Whew! Can we say “…run-on sentence…?” LOL
AFTER they cleaned me out, they discovered stage1 Clear Cell Carcinoma in my uterus. I was told Clear Cell Carcinoma is NEVER treated until stage FOUR because it is SO FAST and SO AGGRESSIVE (stage 4 is when they will normally initially discover it), they normally find it, do what they can to make you comfortable, and send you home to die.
The doctors were amazed at my Good fortune… I am praising my GOD fortune!
Wow… Didn’t mean to get my praise on this early in the morning. But thank you. Whether I win or not, thank you for this venue to talk about how Great My God, is!

For the Lion Brand Color Made Easy Yarn, the blue would be a scarf for my son, the Millennial and Shade would be hats for my daughters. The Touch of Merino yarn is so beautiful! I would love to make a baby coat and matching hat with the Touch of Merino. Last but not least with the Wool Ease Thick & Quick would be used to make hats, scarves, mittens. I am in love with the Butterscotch color! Makes me want to go buy a whole bunch. Thank you for the opportunity to win this great yarn!

Hey, I’m Ivy and I live in Michigan. The Touch of Merino would be a hat & scarf or cardigan for one of my granddaughters (posted a pic of one on the FB group). The bulky would likely be mittens & hat. I’ve never used the wool ease, but that would be great for the hats & scarves I make & donate to the homeless yearly. Usually they’re made from homespun since I’ve some great patterns for those items with that yarn. Thanks for the change to win some of that luscious yarn. 🙂

    Oh, so many squishable yummies!
I ADORE multi-ply yarn for fun stitches like Larks Foot. I have’t tried Color Made Easy though. So I would use it for a new berret pattern I made with that stitch!
Marino would become a CRK. I know it’s a bit thick, but think of being wrapped up in it on Christmas morning while the kids are digging through their stockings!!! Hot Cocoa in hand <3 #imnotcryingyouare
The thick and Quick is one I have been dying to try… I adore the texture and colors. Completely agree with you on how yummy that grey is… I totally want to make my unicorn costume out of that candy color now! I had not even thought of using Thick and Quick. I must away to the store now! (win or not this is going on the books for goals).

Hmm! What would I make what yarns if I won? Well, I have FOUR grown children, six grandsons and 1 darling granddaughter – all of whom could use hats. scarves, mittens, etc. since they all live in very cold climates! And I love to make a few hats now and then to send to child cancer hospital – or to local homeless shelter.
And it’s about time Momma makes one thing for herself! Since I’m on very tight retirement budget, buying yarn can be a challenge at times….so any help in that department would surely be a huge help!
Keep up your great work and thank you so much for all you share with all of us!

  • Reply Rhonda PARSLEY

Hi, I am Rhonda Parsley. I am from the great state of Texas where we can experience all 4 seasons in 24 hours. We have to have things that can keep us warm, but be removed when the temp goes up 40 degrees by mid afternoon. Crochet is my way of maintaining sanity. I am basically confined to bed due to a combination of diseases. A couple of years ago I taught myself to crochet because reading so many crime novels was not good for the psyche. The only place I have been in the last 2 years is to the dr and a couple of trips to a craft store after a dr visit. One of my adult sons graciously picks up supplies for me. Crochet has helped me be able to make inexpensive gifts for family and friends.

I would love the merino yarn. My older son and his wife recently moved to Pennsylvania and I have made some warmer things for them. I would use the creamy colored yarn to make a cowl for my daughter in law. The red and green will make a beautiful holiday scarf trimmed in the light grey/blue color. She is scheduled to start as a university professor in Jan and will need some more stylish things.

The color made easy yarn would be perfect for one of my best friends. She is graduating from college after trying for 40 years–her ex was military and they moved around for 20 years and internet did not exist to help her finish her degree. Then, she was all alone raising a child with some special needs. Now is her time and she is graduating. She is going to be a teacher, so a couple of easy cowls would be great to help change up her wardrobe.

The Thick and Easy yarn is screaming out my son’s name. It might sound strange, but I have found a houndstooth pattern for a hat that would look great with this yarn. He likes larger hats that fully cover his ears and this will be nice and warm.

Thanks for sharing your goodies with your subscribers. What a blessing it would be to win!

It touched my heart deeply when HSMO helped rescue and care for 6 English Mastiffs (the breed that has forever stolen my heart many times over😢). They were found abandoned at a home near Springfield, Mo this past summer. HSMO helps with ALL animal types that have been abandoned and neglected. The for doing this giveaway! Hugs

Hey Toni! Thanks for the video and the giveaway. My name is Carina and I am in Florida. I don’t usually have an idea in mind when I see a yarn, but as soon as you said holiday colors on the merino blend, I envisioned a beautiful Christmas wreath. With the other yarns, I’m thinking some nice tops.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us and hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Hi, MaryAlyce from Virginia.
I think that Touch of Merino is screaming “Christmas shawl”. I’m not sure about what I would do with the rest of the yarn, but I want to try to make hats to sell next year so it will probably be hats.

Hello Toni, If I won this give away of yarn I would use it making messy bun hats for my sisters, or my neices and or newpews, They are my great neices and newphews now that I make for. And if it was the Blue box of yarn I would use that as it is my 4 year old great-grandson’s favorite color and finally make him his blue blanket, he stays with us a lot and he wants a sort blue lanket, he has hats and I have used him to model girl hatts that I have made and designed my self fpr the great neices. he is at the age now where he won’t won’t suffer the girly hats. Poor guy. I am disabled and have been for several years now and he will get the blue blanket of his choice of blue. I was taught to crochet by a elderly lady that lived next door she taught me how to crochet and knit, over the years I have made Kingsize mile a minute bedspread for a beloved uncle, but worjing as a nurse didn;t leave me much time but to make a baby blanket or two for my own 3 wonderful grandchildren and baby blankets for babyshowers, I did teach my self how to read a written crochet pattern. But forgot over the years how to knit. With my disability my Dr. approves of hobbies to help with the pain and stress of my disease {he also recieved a afagan} so I am sure I can eind a use for this yarn, Right now I am making warm baby and toddler hats to donate to Keep are kids warm through our local fire department, Thank you Jeanne Graham Mo.
