Hey friends. Toni here from TL Yarn Crafts and today is a special day because it’s my birthday!!
Even though we’re in the middle of quarantine, I’m still excited to celebrate another trip around the sun. Birthdays have always been important in my home and this year, I’d love for you to celebrate with me.
Watch this video for details!
I’ve partnered with my friends at Lion Brand for a special project. For the rest of June 2020, 100% of sales of select TLYC patterns on the Lion Brand site will be donated to the George Floyd Memorial Fund. In addition, sales of these same patterns on Ravelry and TLYarnCrafts.com will be donated to Movement for Black Lives, a collaborative of leaders and organizations focused on educating, organizing, and taking action against racism in America.
I selected three of my favorite and top-selling crochet patterns to help raise funds for these important causes. First is the Sandbar Cardi. You’ll be the queen of comfy chic when you slip on this lightweight mesh cardigan. Made using mercerized cotton, this piece will stand the test of time and will always have a place in your casual wardrobe.
The next pattern is the Daydream Shawl, a Tunisian crochet textured wrap with fringe for days. I had so much fun designing this piece and have made several for friends as gifts. It’s great if you’re looking to try Tunisian crochet for the first time, and I even have a tutorial video to help you along the way.
Last is the Summertime Tank, which is probably my favorite of the bunch. This mesh, sleeveless top is perfect for keeping your cool when the weather heats up. The relaxed neckline and ribbing accents make the piece look intentional without being fussy. A lightweight cotton yarn like Lion Brand’s Comfy Cotton really brings out the special qualities of this fun piece.
UPDATE (6/25/2020): You can now pick up the new Bright Side Blanket pattern to contribute to my birthday fundraiser!
Meditative meets modern in the Bright Side Blanket. Airy mesh stitches give way to a playful bobble border that I just can’t get enough of. And the best part? This pattern is available in 10 sizes from Security to King!
Now, here’s where you come in. I challenge every maker reading this post to pick up at least one of these patterns and contribute to these causes. Each pattern costs just $7.50. If you’re not able to purchase a pattern today, that’s ok. Our fundraiser runs through the month of June. As of this morning, we’ve raised $300 on my website and Ravelry, and I hope you can help us reach our goal of $1500 by the end of the month.
I’m pumped to see how we can show up as a community to fight racism. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on how much we raise and I’ll report back in a future episode of the TL Yarn Crafts podcast. Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me and have the best day!
