Make It Crochet Along 2021 – A Casual Crochet Experience

A new year is like a breath of fresh air. With so many makers coming off of marathon craft show and gift making, it’s time to slow things down and make something just for yourself during this fun crochet event!

Say hello to Make It CAL 2021, a zero-stress crochet event for yarn lovers! Starting Tuesday, January 19th, casually crochet your favorite TLYC patterns for a chance to win some awesome prizes.

Make It CAL 2021 | A casual crochet along for the post-holiday hangover. Grab your hooks and a TL Yarn Crafts pattern for community, encouragement, and a chance to win amazing prized from BQueen Collection, Knit Picks, Furls, and many more! |

What is a Crochet-Along?

Essentially, a crochet along, or “CAL”, is an online maker party for crocheters around the world. We’ll all be working on projects at the same time and will share our progress on Instagram and Facebook. This will be the third annual Make It CAL and I can’t wait to get started!

This event runs January 19th – February 22nd, but you can hop in anytime. Pick any free or paid TL Yarn Crafts pattern, share your progress on Instagram and/or Facebook, and be in the running for awesome prizes.

You can make one project for the whole CAL, or pick several and work on them throughout the event. You can even pick up a TLYC work-in-progress that you might not have finished yet. #judgementfreezone

I have some leftover yarn from the 2020 traveling afghan project (I did mine in rose heather); I think I’ll look for some thing complementary and do the granny square baby blanket. I’m a bit hesitant to do it in fisherman, because it will get dirty so quickly.

I did buy four other patterns, though, so the plan might change!

Hi Ruth! A few of my projects that are great for stash busting would be Entrelac And Key, the Fairbanks or Flatiron Shawls, and the Pilson Blanket (which you can make in any size). To have your photos show on Instagram, you’ll need to have a public account. If you don’t want to have a public account, you can share your updates in the Facebook group.

I love everything you post. You are beautiful and love watching and learning from you. My crochet abilities have grown quite a bit in the last year or so and I’ve been crocheting for about 6 years. I wish I could partake in these wonderful contests and such you have going on however I am not a social media user AT ALL. It was a personal spiritual choice I made a few years ago. However, I love watching your tutorials and everything you show on here in regards to tools and yarn. Thank you so much for all you do in teaching your crochet family!

Question – Loveland Lite. The materials only requires 1 sk of ea color. In the pattern it refers to letting color A run out before starting stripes. If you only need 1 sk of A, wont that be a problem?

    • Reply Toni L.

Hi Jan – that was an error in the original pattern. If you need the new one that fixed that change, please email [email protected] with your order number. If you purchased on Ravelry, you should be able to get the newest version in your library 🙂
