Get Lucky with the Tunisian Crochet Bamboo Stitch
Since picking up my Tunisian crochet hooks over 5 years ago, I’ve been on the hunt for unique and beautiful stitches. And I found one that lights up my creativity – it’s the Bamboo Stitch! Mostly seen in knit fabric, the Bamboo Stitch provides a simple variation to the Tunisian simple stitch with one significant change – start the repeat with a yarn over, then pass the yarn over loop across several neighboring stitches. This simple motion takes a basic stitch and gives it lots of personality. You’ll love how it adds texture and visual interest to your projects.

- Last Tunisian Stitch (Lts): insert hook under BOTH vertical bars of the last stitch, yo, pull up a lp.
- Return Pass (RetP): Ch 1, (yo, pull through 2 lps) until 1 lp remains on hook.
PATTERN NOTE: Use a knitting need or tapestry needle to help pass the yarn over throughout the stitch pattern. I had the most luck with a short interchangeable 5mm knitting needle tip.

ROW 2 (Yo loosely, tss 3, pass the yo over the 3 tss sts) across to last st, Lts, RetP.
Rep Row 2 until square measures 11.5″. This took me 28 rows.
BIND OFF Loosely sl st each st until last st, sl st last st as for Lts. Proceed to Standard Border.
STANDARD BORDER
