We Are Knitters is known as the company that provides all the happiness in a kit. For years, I’ve indulged in their yarns, knit patterns, and even phone accessories. Now, WAK is venturing into the world of publishing with their new book and they did not disappoint.

What’s inside
We Are Knitters: Knitspiration to Take Anywhere and Everywhere is the first published book from We Are Knitters. It’s filled with gorgeous photos of cozy knitwear. But it’s so much more than pretty pictures. It’s 175 pages of encouragement, education, tutorials, and patterns for knitters of every skill level.
The book starts with an open letter from the authors, WAK owners Pepita Marin and Alberto Bravo. Subsequent pages walk you through the different yarns used, the characteristics of those yarns, and how to care for them. The WAK book takes you further than just the making process and really strives to educate novice knitters.
WAK, from a crocheter’s perspective
WAK and I go wayyyy back. I tried scrolling back in my Instagram feed to find our first project together, and it was just taking forever (though I did find this pumpkin goodie bag, this fluffy hat, and this Tunisian crochet shawl). Suffice it to say, I’m a big fan. I was grateful to receive an advance copy of their book to thumb through.
I’m a crocheter through and through, but I can still appreciate how thoughtfully this book is put together. After flipping the last page, even I was confident that I could make just about everything inside. Alberto and Pepita take their time walking makers through techniques like constructing cables, seaming garments, and checking gauge (so important!).
The WAK book takes you on a journey in more ways than one. While you’re learning new stitches, you’re also exploring beautiful cities like Marrakech, Paris, New York City, and more. The authors diligently carry their signature imagery from their website directly into this book. Each piece is photographed in a different city, giving both the place and the pattern their own identities.
A true gem for aspiring knitters
There’s really so much to love about the We Are Knitters: Knitspiration to Take Anywhere and Everywhere. Not only is the book itself beautiful, but tutorials are clear and the patterns are fun and just challenging enough.
My favorite part about the book is how endearing Pepita and Alberto are. Their writing style in the Introduction, About We Are Knitters, and About the Authors is very personal, open, and honest. They really do ease any fears a new knitter might have about picking up needles for the first time.
The WAK book is a perfect addition to your craft bookshelf. It’s currently available for pre-order on Amazon, and makes its debut on November 5th.
What books do you recommend every maker should have ?
There are so many amazing books out there. I love to drop by my local book store to find the essentials – there’s nothing like picking out books in person if you can.
