Beginner Tunisian Crochet Kitchen Set
Learning a new skill doesn’t have to be daunting. If you’re looking for the perfect project to try Tunisian crochet, you found it! The Charming Trio introduces newbies to this fun craft with an approachable set of crochet kitchen accessories.
Each piece within the Charming Trio – the Towel, Cloth, and Potholder – uses the Tunisian simple stitch, the basic stitch you start with in Tunisian crochet. The Brick Stitch adds color changes and a post stitch for a visually stunning stitch pattern. The little windowpanes created by the Brick Stitch really bring this crochet kitchen accessories set to life.
If you’re brand new to Tunisian crochet and want to start from square one, check out my original tutorial The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Tunisian Crochet. This video has over one million views and breaks down the tools and techniques of this amazing craft. Need an even quicker introduction? Try this video and learn Tunisian crochet in 15 minutes!
Crochet Kitchen Accessories Set Two Ways
The Charming Trio design was inspired by a sweet email from fellow YouTuber and crochet enthusiast Tiffany Hansen. Tiffany mentioned an idea for a collaboration, and I responded with an enthusiastic YES! After months of planning, we’re so proud to share our companion patterns.
While the Charming Trio shows off Tunisian crochet stitches, Tiffany’s Culinary Trio utilizes traditional crochet stitches. No matter which technique you prefer, you’ll love making this set. I recommend trying both, then gifting a set to a special friend and keeping one for yourself.

Crochet Kitchen Accessories with Cotton Yarn
My full yarn snob spirit comes out when it’s time to crochet with cotton yarns. I’m very particular about the cottons I like to use, and I have a short list of the ones I prefer. I was completely blown away by Rico Essentials Organic Cotton, which came from LoveCrafts.com.
Rico Essentials Organic Cotton DK is perfect for the Charming Trio because it’s 100% cotton, deliciously soft, and comes in 20+ gorgeous colors. I recommend using a wooden Tunisian crochet hook (like this one) to help the stitches glide with even tension. Find Rico Essentials Cotton DK from LoveCrafts.com, Laughing Hens, or Wool Warehouse.
The original project yarn is tricky to find, so feel free to swap in your favorite 100% cotton DK weight yarn for the Charming Trio. You can also consider other plant-fiber blends. WeCrochet’s CotLin would be a great choice for your crochet kitchen accessories since it combines cotton and linen. You could also consider Hobbii 8/8, which is 100% cotton and comes in over 50 colors.
