The Lucent Sweater, by Two of Wands

The Lucent Sweater by Two of Wands is a stunning blend of texture, shape, and wearable ease—the kind of piece that feels just as good to knit as it does to wear. Designed with a clever mix of stitches, this sweater features a richly textured center panel and dramatic bell sleeves, balanced by subtle cables and smooth stockinette panels throughout. It’s the perfect intro to cabling for new knitters—simple enough to build confidence, yet visually impressive once worked up.

Knit with bulky weight yarn, Lucent works up faster than it looks and offers surprisingly lightweight, breathable comfort—ideal for transitional weather or layering through the chillier months. The cropped silhouette and dropped sleeves give it a modern, relaxed fit, while the pattern’s nine available sizes ensure a flattering finish for every body.

Try Apricity, a luxurious alpaca yarn blend

Apricity has been thoughtfully created in collaboration with Toni Lipsey of TL Yarn Crafts. The name itself, Apricity, reflects the comforting glow of sunlight on chilly days, and this yarn brings that same sense of warmth and light to your hands and your creations.

Get Apricity for the Golden Hour MAL – SHOP HERE!

Expertly made in Italy, Apricity is crafted with a tubular construction: the yarn begins with a polyamide mesh, into which a luxuriously soft blend of 65% alpaca and 7% wool fibers is blown. This ingenious process results in a yarn that is light as air, yet very voluminous. The addition of polyamide gives the yarn strength and durability, while the alpaca and wool ensure a cozy softness that feels gentle against the skin. The fibers also create a plush, lofty feel that is wonderfully soft to the touch, perfect for projects that need warmth without being heavy.

The color palette of Apricity is nothing short of captivating. Each shade is deeply saturated, reflecting rich, radiant tones that evoke a sense of comfort and serenity. Which will you choose for your Golden Hour MAL project?

Which color of Apricity will you use for your Lucent Sweater? The original Hickory feels right at home among the stacks in your local library. Or try some of my favorites – Nightfall, a deep denim blue; Tawny Olive, an unexpected neutral that stands out from the crowd; or Mulberry, a sultry wine purple that pairs great with your favorite jeans.

What Apricity color combo will you use for the Glimmer Poncho? The original combo of Paprika and Oat Milk has a vibrant kick. Want something more subtle? Try gentle Quartz and deep Flora. For another bold option, try Oat Milk with Cactus Flower. If you’re planning to wear your crochet poncho daily (*raises hand*), try the very wearable combo of Tawny Olive and Hazelnut.

Hi! Newbie here. How do I know what stitch to use for creating a gauge swatch for the glimmer poncho? This is my first time trying something like this. Thank you! So excited!!

Nice catch! I just added that the gauge swatch should be made with the knit mesh stitch. I also added a link to a tutorial to create the stitch. Thanks for pointing that out!!

      Happy to help. For the Lucent Sweater, bust circumference is 40 (44, 48, 52, 56) (60, 64, 68, 72)” [sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)]. Ease is not specified by the designer. For the Glimmer Poncho, bust circumference is 38 (46, 54, 62)” [sizes XS/S (M/L, XL/2XL, 3XL/4XL)]. The designer recommends 4-10″ of positive ease.

How much positive ease does the Glimmer Poncho have? I think I have my yarn picked out but if it ends up being too small, I just make the next size up.

Also, will these be paid patterns only or free with ads on the blog? I’m super excited to get started even though my Savannah Cardi only has around 5 or so rows of the first panel done…

Will these be recorded? I am hoping to be back at work on October 27th. Also, kind of nervous as I will be a pure beginner with Tunisian crochet.

Hi Toni, for the glimmer poncho, do I need 2 Tunisian crochets? One 12mm and another 8 mm?

    • tlyarncrafts
      tlyarncrafts October 22, 2025 at 9:50 am - Reply

Hi! No, you will not need 2 Tunisian hooks. You will need one 12mm Tunisian crochet hook, and an 8mm traditional crochet hook.

It would be amazing if your yarn was for sale somewhere other than Hobbii, because they stopped shipping to Australia so unfortunately Australian’s can’t buy it! 😔

It would have been nice to know that Hobbii would stop shipping to Australia, but I am not aware of their business dealings. I’m sorry that you cannot get the exact yarn for this project, but I hope you can find a suitable substitution. Hope you will still join us 🙂

Team Tunisian all the way!!! I’ve been crocheting since I was 3-years-old (ikr? If it wasn’t me I’d be skeptical, lol). I was introduced to Tunisian by you, Toni, and I love it! Can’t wait to join my first MAL with you.

well shoot, I’ve fallen for that glimmer poncho! Right now I’m pretending to really weigh whether or not I can spend that much money on the yarn, but it’s already a done deal. I can feel it in my bones!
I did a crochet academy a few years ago, although my cardigan ended up being enormous and enough time went by that I could reclaim the yarn without feeling too defeated!
What size is the model wearing? Maybe that way I can be more accurate when deciding what size to commit to.

Hello! I’d love to make this poncho for myself. I have a wool allergy and wouldn’t be able to use your beautiful Happy Place Apricity yarn. Could you make a couple of substitution suggestions that would give the same drape?
    Thanks

Hi! Sorry that Apricity won’t work for you. Here are some substitutions I recommend. From Lion Brand, I would go for a lighter bulky weight yarn, something a bit fuzzy. I haven’t tried these yarns before, but Feels Like A Dream and Mandala Impressions seem like they would work. You could also try Hue and Me, but I find it to be a little stiff when applied to garment construction. From Crochet.com, Comfy Aran, Berroco Vintage Chunky, and Wool of the Andes Chunky would all work well. These are each a little heavier than Apricity, so be sure to check that gauge.

I hope this helps, and I look forward to stitching with you for the MA
