Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer, a Warm Crochet Headband with Faux Button Closure

Honeycomb Ear Warmer

Take your Tunisian crochet skills a step further by trying out the Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer!

Who doesn’t love a good stash busting project? I had a little We Are Knitter’s The Petite Wool hanging around in my stash after making the Ada Shawl and figured WHY NOT! The Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer uses a little bit of yarn and one of my favorite Tunisian crochet stitch, the Honeycomb stitch. I can’t wait for you to get into this FREE pattern and the accompanying video. ENJOY!

It’s no secret by now that I’m totally obsessed with Tunisian crochet (for example, have you checked out the Hot Cocoa Poncho?!). It’s become one of my favorite versions of crochet because it uses similar techniques and creates a completely different type of fabric.

The Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer incorporates Tunisian simple stitch and purl stitch along with some fun colorwork. You could stop there, but I bring in some traditional crochet to finish things up and add a few buttons for extra personality.

Like most crocheters, I have a stash of yarn just waiting to be used. I love the challenge of designing something new with yarn I already have. After I finished my Ada Shawl XL (pattern coming soon!), which I made with We Are Knitters The Petite Wool, I had some wool leftover. The soft nude colors paired so well together that they made the perfect combination for the Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer.

The Petite Wool is an aran weight yarn, which isn’t common to find in big box stores. To help, I included some details on how to adjust this pattern for using worsted (category 4) or bulky (category 5) weight yarn.

Hello Shannon – I’m sorry for any miscommunication but I do not ship patterns. If you’d like to arrange shipping, there is an extra cost for printing and postage. Please email [email protected].

Thank you, Toni, for your lovely pattern and video. I had forgotten how to change colors in Tunisian crochet, so your video was a big help.

I’m making the ear warmer with left-over Lion Brand Re-Tweed yarn in Grapefruit and Hay. I might add some Vineyard Wine as an accent, maybe for the button band.

Thank you again for all you do to support the Tunisian crochet community.
