Let’s Make Your Advent Shine: The Astral Advent Wrap

You know that moment when you open a truly beautiful yarn advent — that hit of excitement mixed with please don’t let me mess this up? I get it.
The Astral Advent Wrap is my newest collaboration with Hue Loco — a simple linen stitch chevron designed to let your special advent yarn shine. There’s enough texture to keep things interesting without stealing the spotlight from your colorful fade. The rhythm is easy and relaxing, creating a soft, drapey wrap that feels just as good to make as it does to wear.

The Perfect Pattern for Fade-Forward Advents
If you fell in love with last year’s Bahama Advent Wrap, but Tunisian crochet isn’t your jam, meet your crochet version. The Astral Advent Wrap has the same cozy vibe, with simple stitches that make the moment all about the yarn.
I’ve been unboxing Hue Loco’s yarn advents for a few years now, and Nicole’s talent for creating seamless fades is unmatched. There’s something magical about watching 24 mini skeins unfold into a gradient that feels intentional from start to finish — no awkward jumps, no questioning the order, just a beautiful flow of color.
Hue Loco’s 2025 Starlight Fade Advent was the inspiration for this wrap. I designed the pattern before the advent arrived, then stitched it day by day as I opened each mini skein — watching that dreamy ascent from warm creams and cantaloupe into soft purples and deep violet come to life in real time. But the beauty of this pattern is that it works for any fade-forward advent.

When I started sketching ideas for Astral, I kept thinking about what makes advent projects so special — that daily ritual of opening a mini, adding a few rows, and watching the colors unfold without rushing. I wanted something steady and calming for a busy season, the kind of piece you can pick up each day, enjoy a new color, and trust it will all come together.
As the minis stack up, the wrap takes shape, and the fade tells its own story. No stress, no overthinking. Just you, your yarn, and a design that invites you to slow down and enjoy the process.
Choosing Yarn for the Astral Advent Wrap
I designed the Astral Advent Wrap specifically for DK-weight advent mini skeins — the kind that feel almost too pretty to use. The linen stitch chevron gives each color its own space, so the fade unfolds cleanly and intentionally as you work, without requiring complicated planning or exact color math.
But here’s the good news: this pattern is flexible. It works beautifully with a few different approaches, depending on what you have on hand and the look you’re going for.

Using a gradient advent will give you a smooth, cohesive flow, where the colors blend seamlessly and create that dreamy fade effect. If you prefer more contrast, an advent with bigger color jumps lets each mini have its own moment, with the chevron helping those color blocks feel intentional rather than abrupt.
You can also build your own palette by mixing minis and leftovers from your stash. It gives the wrap a completely different personality and turns those “too special to use” skeins into something wearable.
Whatever you choose, the design lets your yarn shine. Trust your instincts and have fun with it.
Inside the Astral Advent Wrap Pattern
The structure is simple, but thoughtful. The chevron creates movement across the wrap, the linen stitch keeps the fabric relaxed and drapey, and the rectangular shape makes it easy to wear and easy to customize.

The pattern includes clear row-by-row instructions, a stitch chart, and stitch multiple information so you can adjust the wrap to suit your yarn and your preferences without second-guessing yourself.
The pattern also includes a full blocking breakdown — it’s detailed and walks you through exactly how to get that perfect drape and size.
What You’ll Need
