When a new yarn hits the scene from one of my favorite yarn companies, I just have to try it. Purl Soho recently introduced Morning, a unique blend of cotton and yak that is irresistibly soft. I tried Morning in my newest sample of the Sweet Stripes Baby Blanket and it is certified FABULOUS!

No sooner is one baby shower over than I get another invitation. I love being the maker auntie that can gift a special blanket to every new babe. This time around, a beloved co-worker from one of my old jobs is welcoming her first little bun after a long battle with infertility. It was a true honor to refresh one of my favorite patterns for this special occasion.
When I got the call from Purl Soho that they had a new cotton-based yarn coming soon, I knew the fates had aligned for one very special baby blanket. The Sweet Stripes Baby Blanket is the perfect canvas for the range of pastel colors available in the Morning collection.
Morning from Purl Soho is a blend of 75% organically grown cotton and 25% yak. That might seem like an odd combination, but consider that animal fibers like wool have been blended with cotton to create delightful yarns for hundreds of years. In the case of Morning, this blend of fibers creates a satisfying weight and the yarn feels like butter as you work with it.
And the best part? It is machine washable! This makes it perfect for baby items like the Sweet Stripes Blanket.
I can’t wait to gift this blanket to my former co-worker and forever friend. It fills my maker heart with so much happiness that a very special and long-awaited bundle of joy will enjoy this labor of love.
