As a crochet designer, I have a love-hate relationship with cotton. More often than not these days, I love it for it’s drape, vibrant colors, and durability. Such is the case when it came to designing the Josie Shawl. I was looking for the perfect yarn for a bright, playful and happy accessory – I think I nailed it by using we are knitters The Pima Cotton in Salmon Pink.
When it comes to beginner-friendly shawl patterns, the Josie Shawl is about as easy as it gets. It’s a 2-row repeat that’s easy to memorize and personalize. I went for a modestly sized shawl, measuring just over 60″ along the wingspan. But you can really have fun by changing the yarn weight and fiber. The sky is the limit with a design like this!
Aside from the actual pattern, I wanted to have some fun with the finishing technique of this shawl. I opted for beaded tassels on just two of the corners. Not to toot my own horn, but my tassel game is on point! Learn all my secrets in this YouTube video.

I love this shawl!! I need easy and a pattern to follow. Best color ever, peach colors get me every time! I thought I could “wing it and make a shawl without a pattern and now I have to frog hours of work. You’re pattern makes it not so heartbreaking. LOL
