MATERIALS
- Worsted weight yarn – color D
- 6mm crochet hook
- 6.5mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
FINISHED SIZE
12″ square after border and blocking
STITCH MULTIPLE: The Filet Crochet Square can be worked over a fsc multiple of 12 + 1, or a chain multiple of 12 + 2. Adjust as needed for the desired width.
PATTERN NOTE: Work in stitches and spaces as needed throughout pattern.

INSTRUCTIONS
With D and 6mm hook, fsc 37. Alternately, ch 38, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across row, turn.
ROW 1 Ch 1, dc 7, [(ch 1, sk 1, dc 1) 3 times, dc 6] 2 times, (ch 1, sk 1, dc 1) 3 times, turn.
ROW 2 Ch 1, (dc 1, ch 1, sk 1) 3 times, dc 7, [(ch 1, sk 1, dc 1) 3 times, dc 6] 2 times, turn.
ROW 3 Rep Row 1.
ROW 4 Rep Row 1.
ROW 5 Rep Row 2.
ROW 6 Rep Row 1.
ROW 7 Rep Row 1.
ROW 8 Rep Row 2.
ROW 9 Rep Row 1.
ROW 10 Rep Row 1.
ROW 11 Rep Row 2.
ROW 12 Rep Row 1.
ROW 13 Rep Row 1.

Do not fasten off. Continue to Standard Border.
STANDARD BORDER
- Change to 6.5mm crochet hook and ensure the square faces right side up.
- Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), single crochet 35 stitches evenly across the first edge of the square, placing increases and decreases where needed. At corner, ch 2 and rotate to work along the next edge.
- Single crochet 35 stitches evenly across the edge, placing increases and decreases where needed. At corner, ch 2 and rotate to work along the next edge.
- Repeat the last step for the remaining 2 sides. At the end of the round, join with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. Fasten off and block your finished square to 12″ x 12″.
