Add some character to your walls and share an important message about social distancing when you make the Stay Home Wall Hanging, a FREE pattern from TL Yarn Crafts. One of many quarantine projects made during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, this project reminds me that I’d usually rather be home binging on crime thrillers and curling up with all my yarn.

At the time of writing this blog post, we’re at the tail end of 8 weeks into quarantine. I’ve been trying my best to protect my mental health by taking good care of my body, limiting the amount of news I watch, and crafting all the things.
I practiced cross stitch on Tunisian crochet for the first time recently and fell in love with it. It’s such a soothing process and really takes Tunisian crochet to the next level. I made a quick video tutorial if you haven’t tried it already:
The Stay Home Wall Hanging was a fun way to use up some yarn I had in my stash and make a statement about how I was spending my quarantine. I can count how many times I’ve gone to the store on one hand and I keep the hand sanitizer at the ready.
Whether you’re making a statement about the quarantine, or just want to show some love to your inner couch potato, give the Stay Home Wall Hanging try!

STAY HOME WALL HANGING INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: With white yarn and Tunisian crochet hook, chain 39. Work in Tunisian simple stitch for 33 rows and finish with a slip stitch bind off. New to Tunisian crochet? Learn it the easy way with this Tutorial video!
STEP 2: Steam block your finished piece to relax any curling and make it easier to cross stitch on. Click here to learn how to steam block your crochet fabric!
STEP 3: With the gold yarn, cross stitch the “STAY HOME” graphic on the white fabric. Pay close attention to the placement of the letters and leave the appropriate margin around the art. Weave in all ends once the art is stitched.
STEP 4: Using white yarn, string the stitched fabric to a wooden dowel. Use more white yarn and make knots on either end of the dowel for the piece to hang. Add a dot of hot glue to adhere the knot to the dowel so it won’t slide off.
STEP 5: Add fringe as shown in the images. I added all of my fringe at 14″ to start, steamed the fringe straight with my handheld steamer, then trimmed it with a rotary cutter for a straight edge. Trimming with scissors works too. Yarn on the far ends is 10″ long, while yarn in the middle is 14″.
Just like that, your Stay Home wall hanging is done! I hope you enjoyed making this project. Be sure to tag your projects @TLYarnCrafts and #TLYCMakers on Instagram. And drop by the TLYCMakers Facebook group to show off all your hard work too.
Stay safe, friends! And thanks for stopping by 🙂

Hi! You’ll just want to start with a chain that is the width of the blanket that you want, then make the blanket with whatever stitch you want to the length you need. Is there something specific I can help with?
