There are certain stitches we crocheters are helplessly drawn to. One of my favorites is the Tunisian Honeycomb stitch, where simple stitches meet gorgeous texture.

The Joy of the Tunisian Honeycomb Stitch

I first stumbled across Tunisian crochet when visiting a Vogue Knit Live, a convention for yarn lovers, hosted in New York. Armed with the basics, I scoured every book and tutorial I could find to learn more. I quickly found the Honeycomb Stitch, a combination of Tunisian simple and purl stitches that blew my mind. It’s the stitch that made me fall in love with Tunisian crochet, and I haven’t looked back.

The beauty of the Honeycomb stitch is alternating your rows. After the foundation row, you’ll start the next row with a Tunisian simple stitch, followed by a purl stitch. On the following row, start with a Tunisian purl stitch followed by a simple stitch. Alternate these rows throughout and watch adorable honeycomb lines appear.
