Get colorful with the Tunisian Crochet Block Stitch

Every maker has those stitches that they return to over and over again. A few of my favorites are a granny square, the crochet linen stitch, and the Tunisian crochet Block Stitch. It’s deceptively simple and a perfect way to add texture and visual interest to simple patterns. Mix post stitches with Tunisian simple stitches to make the window panes, then fill them in with more rows of simple stitches. It’s that easy! Learn exactly how it’s done by watching the tutorial video below.

One of my most popular patterns, the Mulberry Afghan, uses the addictive and speedy Block Stitch. In this sample, a color-changing yarn cake adds beautiful dimension to the blanket, while a solid contrasting color is used for the accent.
